Slayer unit built up !

Finally got the pieces together with the Slayer unit. Some bitz were left over, but I think there's no need to put every last bit of detail into the figures. I have to watch in awe how Avatars Of War has made these superb looking figures. I hope I don't ruin them with my painting :)

Lads having a beer

At weekend in early morning hours I got an idea to make two slayer lads having a chat while drinking mead within the slayer unit. There was little bit of conversion to do with the weapons and the basing, but I think I managed it OK, though it could have been better. Having completed the diorama it struck to me that there was no way I could paint the figures in current positions. So, before I start to paint these slayers, I have to cut the base in half and join it together after the painting is done.

Eleven Slayers complete, nine to go !

These guys are going to be placed in the flanks of the Slayer unit.

Great weapon hammers

The conversion from great weapon axe to gw hammer is on the better side of the project. I still need about ten hammerheads to complete the whole unit of thirty hammerers. I found some different looking hammerheads from my bitz collection. They seem to belong to Middenheim warriors, I think. Some of the hammerheads are little askew, but nobody will notice it on the battlefield :)

Building up the Slayer unit

This is the first time I'm building up a Warhammer unit. The size is five times four slayers. To this moment the AoW berserkers are the most complicated figures I've ever assembled. There are so much of tiny bitz, which you can use to decorate the minis. I also have troubles glueing the standard to the pole because there is so little sufrace where it should be glued and the upper part is really heavy. I have completed seven models, so
far.

Christmas comes twice a year

Got a package containing new minis and some dip ! I have only heard good recomendations of Army Painter's dips, so I though I should try it on my forthcoming Dwarf army. I like the idea not have to paint the wash with a brush, but to dip the whole figure into it and have instant and even shade around it. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed :)

My first battalion of Dwarves ! I decided to convert the warriors to hammerers, because I didn't like the GW hammerer models and thought of paying 20 euros for five models made my stomach hurt. I opened the box and noticed that there are only few hammerheads for converting great weapon axes to gw hammers. I may have to beg my friends for some hammerheads to complete 30 hammerers with great weapons. I think there will be lots of hair pulling and swearing before the task is completed :)

Uah ! This is one of the reasons I started to collect a dwarf army. Avatars of War Dwarf Berserkers ! The figures are so great looking that I can't wait to put some paint on them. Not shure which colour to use, but the hair and beards are going to be classical orange :)

Here's the first test drive of converting a warrior to hammerer. He's going to be the Gate Keeper of the bunch, because of the leaders helmet and the pint 'o malt in his hand :)

Warmachine crew ready for action

Yesterday night I thought I finished painting the crew members of Bolt Thrower and Grudge Thrower. At dawn I woke up in a different reality. Not satisfied with all of the eyes, wrong paint in wrong places, etc.. There are corrections to be made, but in the end the dwarves look like what my skills are, meager at the best :)

Fire at Will !

I bought my first dwarf figures. These are secondhand stuff, though unpainted. I will update the photos as they get some color on them.

Two heroes. I bought the right one as a Master Engineer, but the parcel contained also the left one. What shall I do with the drunken sailor ?

Old version of Bolt Thrower and it's crew. I have to tweak the bolt thrower's painting and the base a little bit to meet my standards.

Old version of Grudge Thrower and crew. I like it.

Anvil of Doom, second stage

Finally the ice cream sticking is completed and it took about 25 sticks to finish. Next thing would be to hone the edges to look sharp and glue the levels and anvil to each other. Yet, I have to think about the layout of the levels, which looks the best. So, here is a photo of the Anvil of Doom construction and the dwarf who built it :)

Wash up !

Greetings ! I completed the base colouring of the warmachine crew members and added the washes. Ogryn flesh for the flesh and devlan mud for the rest. I think they start to look like something :)

Base colouring continued

I put some base paint to the clothes of warmachines' crew members. The Grudge Thrower crew got green shirts and the Bolt Thrower crew red. At the moment they look quite dull and I was wondering, if I should try to paint some patterns to the clothes. Only problem is that I don't know how it looks when I add the highlighting with drybrush. How to highlight so that the patterns are also highlighted ?!? Maybe it's too hard for me, but you'll never know if you don't try :)

Mordheim Sunday sessions

Me and my two friends started new Mordheim campaing, where three warbands squabble for the domination of land area. We all started with a fresh warband and I chose the Leathal Shadow Warriors. The rival bands are dumbs and dumber (Orcs & Troll) and the Drunken Masters (Pirates). We played two scenes, where the goal was to hunt for warp stone and secondly find treasure and the top of all to send the rivaling bands to the depths of Hell (or what ever it is in Mordheim, because isn't the place already close to it ?!?) Here are some photos of the sessions, sorry about the bad quality. More detailed battle reports from stormingrats.blogspot.com !
