The hobby has been on a break over a year. No games, no painting only streaming services :D

Thanks to 10th edition I got my shit together and completed Generals for my Death Guard army. Behold Typhus and Prince of Nurgle.

Two new Fellowes of the Death Guard space marines got a paint job. I also practiced airbrushing with earlier model painted before. The flame is now much better :)

Cooking up some bases

Greetings!

I tried to do some pestilence ridden bases with mud, slime ponds and some scruberries. There is a component that can be used to do some water effects in miniatures, but didn't get that from my local store, so I had to settle for gloss varnish to get the ponds seem wet. I'm satisfied with the effect, though it doesn't show on the photo.

It has been quite a while for updating the blog for real. Long have I been a fan of airbrush painting and finally puchased the equipment of my own. As the airbrush technique is so different than painting with normal brushes I decided to sell my Grey Knights and start an army from scratch to get all the models painted with airbrush style. Nurgle rot has always been close to heart, so where else would I go? Here are the first test subjects to my Death Guard color scheme.

New Era

Greetings!

A new era has begun as I start a project of Grey Knights. I bought the Nemesis Vanguard package and some additional astartes to begin with. I chose to magnetize the minis, so I could change the weapon according the army list. I has been fun to build the new figures, but I also made few mistakes while trying to do the figures of the special squads as versitile as possible. Here's where I'm right now!

Mega Battle

Last sunday we had a Mega Battle (to our standards). 3700 points per side. Clan Bonebiters from the Land of Khemri versus an army of Dark Elves. I wanted to do a army list, which contained all of my Ogre figures. The list is illegal because it has too few of Core units, but in our friendly games it doesn't matter (and the opposite has something to complain if it loses the match :)

Battle Report:

Deployment.

Photo after 1st turn of Ogre phase. Ogres started generally moving closer. Stonehorn charged to Dark Riders which advanced forward by vanguard move. Rider fled through the Corsairs and caused them to panic. Giant and Yhetees marched to the forest to engage with DElven Shades, which were hiding in the bushes. The woods were poisonous. Magic phase didn't do anything. Maneaters sniped the Elvish BSB to it's death and Cannon blasted the Hydra into oblivion.

On the 1st turn of Delves the Corsairs didn't rally and went of the battlefield. Some troops moved forward. Magic didn't do anything although DElves were close to magical temple, which gave them opportunity to get more dice to magic pool. Beastmaster shot the Harpoon at Stonehorn and made couple of wounds and dragged it forward. The Medusa also made a wound to the Stonehorn. Shades did some wound to the Giant, but didn't kill him. There were no melee combat.

Ogres 2nd turn started with the Gorger entering to the battlefield behind the Black Guard. Mourfangs charged to Cold One Knights and The Shades were charged by the Giant and Yhetees. Ironguts unit tried to charge to the Black Guard, but failed. Magic phase didn't do anything. Cannon destroyed the Cold One Chariot. Mornings run through the Cold One Knights. The Shades were slain and the Giant overran to the Darkshards and continued fighting. He fell over the Elves taking eight lives with him as he died. The Elves ran in panic.

In the 2nd Elf turn the Dark Shards rallied and turned towards the Gorger. Black Guard charged to the Ogre Bulls unit. On the Magic phase the Slaughtermaster used his Hellheart crippling the Elven casters. At this point my opponent called the Game and congratulated the Ogres for Brutal Victory!

The Ironblaster is being painted on a steady pace. Some details are missing and I have to paint over some parts. The ogre is still missing, but here's pair of photos of the progression.

Cold breeze of Death

Next ones in line were the freezing ogrish fellows, Yhetees. They are mainly painted with blue wash and that's why I finished painting them quite fast. I think I succeeded pretty good, and I'm extra proud that I managed to paint the ice on the weapons a way that the wood is dimly visible under the ice. Here are some photos.

I took the Sabretusks to the painting board and did some magic. I have to say that I'm not very proud of what became out, but I think the fur color is quite unique :D ..I have to blame the two pose models for my failure, though I tried to modify them a little ..Here's some eyesore!
